my first foray into blogging…
…..and what to say and show?
i’m thinking a few shots of some of the pieces i made for our fantastic ‘pierced’ exhibition last month. what a great night – lots of people enjoying the stunning new work we had all found so inspiring to make; everyone tucking into the mulled wine and nibbles; the buzz of talking to people about our work; the real connection made when the new owner of a piece talks with its creator; and all to the wonderful accompaniment of live music.
‘pierced’ was a great theme for me for our exhibition as so much of my work makes use of this technique – i love the challenge and the intense concentration required to create each piece while still having to be so relaxed with each movement of the saw. oh, i know using a laser is faster and allows for even more intricacies in the metal – but doing it by hand, each piece an original made with blood, sweat and love is REAL jewellery – at least to me.
i’m very much looking forward to sharing more of my work and thoughts with you, and to getting more of a connection with the wonderful folk at hobart H&H
